A new perspective
Wednesdays are probably going to be my favorite day of the week. I get to visit the other staffed office which is the center of one of our residential campuses and community integration sites. This means I am meeting and interacting with many of the people that this org supports. This experience is opening me up to a different way of thinking. In the past I never really considered what it must be like to have a developmental disability what that world is like. Now of course I’m suddenly aware. Orientation did a lot to make me realize just how little I know about this group of people who face challenges and struggles far beyond what you or I deal with every single day. I am not sure how to best describe it but I do feel like my time at this center is going to be have a very positive impact on my life. They are going to teach me a new way of thinking about people with disabilities and how to give them the feeling of normalcy they crave and deserve. ![]()
