A month or so ago I ran across an old article on MSN written by a woman about back up boyfriends. A short way into the article I realized she was writing tongue in cheek and being completely ridiculous about her list of unattainable men for her back up boyfriend. It still made me think about the idea of having someone in mind who, if something unexpected were to happen to your SO, you would consider as a replacement. Maybe you haven’t put any thought in to it or maybe you never thought about it in these terms but sitting here today can you think of someone that you would consider a likely candidate? Maybe he’s just a good friend who you never thought of as more than a friend before? Maybe he’s someone you met and would have dated in other circumstances? Or maybe you are one of many who is in a dying marriage and there is a someone who comes to mind readily?
