Howard Stern Show joins Twitter
As of Thursday morning there is an official Twitter account for The Howard Stern show: http://twitter.com/sternshow
Robin Quivers also signed up: http://twitter.com/rqui
Gary tweeted during the show and then later Howard sent a few tweets from his Blackberry.
I even got a reply Tweet from Howard himself this morning after I suggested he check out Viigo for his new Blackberry. Howard also tweeted that he was already getting bored with tweeting and figured he would pass it off to Gary or JD. I expected as much. After all, when Howard attempted to interact with his fans on an official Howard Stern forum, they mobbed him. Then, as seems to be the way with most Stern fans, they started acting like asswipes and the forum was closed forever. Not before Howard read one of my posts on the air and featured it on the front page of the website.
One thing is apparent from the number of followers I gained on my Twitter HowardSternFan account after the announcement; people are want to have a voice that is heard. Even if they have nothing more to say than how much they love the show. Of course there are already some assholes on Twitter saying shitty things about Ben and Beth Stern. I don’t understand why there is such a need to be hateful and if you don’t LIKE the show, why listen?
I don’t know if the Twitter phase will last longer than the Facebook phase but I kind of hope it does. Since Tim Sabien is behind this Twitter thing and that it is almost certain to be handed off to a JD or Jason, I think the account will at least be active. I imagine that replies back to the followers will become fewer and fewer. Ah well it’s fun for the moment.
