Romantic night under the stars with music and fireworks
By Dae on Jul 2, 2009 | In General | Send feedback »
What could be better?
Friday is the first night of Fair St Louis which is the annual fourth of July celebration in St Louis on the river front. It’s all free (except rides, food and drinks of course) and they always have a great line up of bands who play under the Arch. Both evenings end with a stunning fireworks display.
I’m so excited for Friday! My sweet, sexy boy is going with me to see The Counting Crows concert and Train Saturday night. The weather is PERFECT! So we are going to take a blanket and sit under the stars then kiss and fall in love.
Seriously, this is one of my favorite things to do and having my boy with me makes it just about the best thing evah!
Hope your holiday weekend is just as perfect!! Be Safe :)
Flooding causes the road to collapse
By Dae on Feb 11, 2009 | In General, Cell Phone Pics | Send feedback »
I pulled off the interstate to fill up my tank and was shocked to see this:

At first glance I thought the truck itself had some sort of issue, then I realized the road had collapsed beneath it. The fire department was there. These were the best pictures I could get with my cell phone. I’m going to start carrying my purple polaroid digital camera in my car. I was going to sell it or give it away but dammit I’m keeping it for stuff like this. I was there before the stupid news crews.
KMOV was there first and they didn’t even post pictures yet:
Tractor-trailer gets stuck after road collapses near McKinley Bridge
08:56 AM CST on Wednesday, February 11, 2009
(KMOV) – Flash flooding has created some big messes on the roads.
One particularly rough spot is in north St Louis where a street has buckled, causing some traffic concerns.
It happened at 11th and Salisbury around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
This is not far from Interstate 70 and the McKinley Bridge.

I finally broke down and emailed the jerks about the express lane being closed to westbound traffic in the a.m. I actually got a PROMPT reply but I’m not placated. It’s still bullshit. Like I believe that people ONLY travel through STL eastbound. Where are they all going? In a big circle that doesn’t come back through STL?? Whatever
Thank you for your e-mail about the westbound closure of the express lane
on I-70. Below please find the response from our traffic engineer:
The closure of the east half of I-64 has resulted in increased morning
travel times on eastbound I-70 from I-170 to the Poplar Street Bridge.
Travel times have increased up to five minutes more in the eastbound
direction compared to the baseline morning times. The westbound direction
has remained the same as the baseline times. The evening travel remains
heavier in the eastbound direction. As a result, the reversibles will
remain in the eastbound direction all the time. The traffic on I-70 is so
close in either direction it is a difficult balance to make, but our
engineers will continue to monitor the travel times on I-70 every week and
make changes as traffic warrants it. For now, the travel times indicate it
should be eastbound all day long.
The reversible lanes could be changed in direction as needed to respond to
a crash or other incident along I-70. Otherwise, the reversible lanes will
remain open to the eastbound direction.
Why oh WHY???

is the mother
honking Express Lane on Interstate 70 through downtown St Louis STILL CLOSED TO WESTBOUND TRAFFIC???
This is the third day that it’s been only used for east bound traffic and it’s a PITA. I’ve searched online at Fox 2 and KSDK and can’t find an explanation for why it’s not being opened in the morning to commuter traffic.
