We waste a lot more water than I realized
This weekend I was reviewing Ideal Bite and their tip was a water saving one that apparently has been suggested by readers many times over: place a bucket in shower to catch the water while it warms up. There was a bit of back and forth in the comments because the tone of the article was kinda snarky but I learned from those comments that there are lots of other ways to conserve water. I don’t know if I can do the bucket in the shower but I can try the ‘GI shower’ where you turn off the water while you are soaping etc
Ways I am currently trying to conserve water: I take dirty water from the aquarium put on my flowers, same with the dirty water from hermit crab tank. At night I try to refrain from flushing the toilet.
One suggestion I decided to try right away:
Placing a basin in the sink to catch water from hand washing and such. I did this on Sunday by Monday night I filled it almost three times. That alone showed me just how much water we are wasting! I screwed up and ran the dish water in the sink but to make up for it I only ran a few inches. Next is to do the same in the bathroom sink.
I know you can put a brick in your toilet tank to help cut down on water but I keep forgetting to locate a brick!
There were some other ideas on there for reusing collected water but I don’t know if I can handle having buckets of water sitting all over the house
I have plenty of flower beds that need water so I will be using mine there and trying not to turn on the hose. That will help reduce the water bill as well.
Check out www.idealbite.com for ways to baby step it a greener existance!
