July 5, 2005

The weather finally broke yesterday!  We received a decent rainfall and the temps dropped off a bit.  The rain may help the crops but the lawns and flowers have most likely suffered too much damage.  Never thought I’d see such a dry season in the Midwest

Mom and Kenny arrived on Friday midday, just before Matt and I left town on the motorcycles for an over night trip.  For more on that check www.scooterchick.net. The went to see Rose on Saturday and stayed all night with her.  Today, Misty went shopping for her new wainscotting and Kenny is installing it for her in the living room.  She painted the walls last week with a peach color and sponged over it.  It looks really nice and make a huge difference in the lighting in the room.  It was so bright and blah before and now its a softer light.

As we are getting closer to our closing date on the house, it seems we are going to be forced to pay off the debt collection thieves at Focus Financial.  The State Rep has been unable to do anything further to help Matt.  Tri Care is supposed to be dealing with it but its not resolved.  The underwriters for our loan want it paid off before we close.  Its so infuriating that we are being forced to pay a debt that Matt never owed in the first place.  This kind of shit should be ILLEGAL.  And why are all of these assholes in FLORIDA?  Is the law there just so lax that it makes a haven for them?  Maybe I’ll call Fox 2 news about this!

We have to have our central air installed before we close also, which shouldn’t be a problem.  I also found out that the seller is a very young girl with a baby.  Her mother is the middle aged woman we saw before.  That explains why the house is a mess every time we go over there.  I’m told the mom is very upset that she is selling her house.

The Taking by Dean Koontz

This is possibly the  first Dean Koontz book I’ve ever read. I read some other horror books years ago but I don’t think they were by Koontz, can’t think of the guys name.  Anyhow, the premise of this book is decent.  Unfortunately I feel like it was poorly written in spots.  The author was really trying to drive home a central concept but seemed to only be able to accomplish this by addressing it directly with overly flowery words.  Instead of letting the feeling and emotion come through the characters, he just told you what the tone was.  It was a bit preachy I guess is the best way to put it.  You would be rolling along in the story, starting to get into, then BAM…lets stop and review the atmosphere and the emotional status of the characters.  I found it strange how he kept telling us how strong the love was between the couple, instead of letting them express it.  Like he was switching between Molly’s point of view and him narrating.  Maybe this is typical Koontz and he’s just not for me… I know my sister reads pretty much all of his stuff.  I’ll read another and see how it goes.  The book wasn’t that compelling.  I read about half of it and then left it for three weeks or so, something I normally can’t do with a book I really enjoy.  I read voraciously once I get into a story.   I can say that in my whole life I’ve not finished a book I’ve started maybe 3 times.  I read them to the end, even if they suck, just to see if it gets any better.  This one I probably could have not gotten around to finishing and it wouldn’t have bothered me.  No matter how many times the author told me it was hopeless and there was no future, I knew he’d pull it out in the end.  I read the reviews of this book and I can’t say that I agree with any of them.  This book was not well written and certainly not scary or thrilling.

So the book passed the time at work but I wouldn’t devote any of my quality reading time to it

Crazy week!

Its been a busy hectic week. Dad and everyone arrived late Saturday night. I BBQ’d so they ate when they got in. The boys are so big and so dang cute!! Sunday we all went to see the house and then everyone but Dad went over to Mcleansboro. Later on Sunday, Dad left also. I had a migraine all day and spent most of the day dozing in and out thanks to my meds. Tuesday was the big family get together for a fish fry so I traded days with Sandy at work to be off. There were so many people there! Most of them family of course. The boys played so hard! I got some good pictures too. We finally met our Aunt Rose from Louisana also. We got home around 1 a.m. We really had a good time. Anita always makes us feel so welcome. Alot of that weird awkwardness from when we were kids is gone now and I feel like we are a better blended family at this point.

Wednsday was our safety meeting at work and more changes are in coming down the pike. Our potential buyers are going to be at the plant today also. I have another migraine going today and I have to work Friday for Sandy. Its just going to be a crappy week. I’ve got my days off split up and that is pointless. I guess I’ll just veg out all day Saturday.

I did buy some cute stuff for the house this week at Big Lots.

Its supposed to be so freakin hot this week too. Gee I can’t wait for that. We are going to have to sleep downstairs later this week.

Hmm..

My TV doesn’t have “CTRL, ALT, DELETE” keys

Interesting…I wonder what as supposed to be on!LMAO

Tired...

Christ I’m tired… This new schedule is kicking my ass. I can’t get to bed at a decent hour anymore! I can’t get up at a decent hour anymore! *sigh* Okay no more bitching… I need to post and get to bed.

I talked to mom earlier this week and I’m so happy for her. She is feeling so much better and sounds so much better! No more of the angry bitching and being pissed off. She is feeling happy and positive. She is experiencing very little pain and has even dropped some weight!! She is getting along better with Kenny which is a huge relief. She also told me that she has been getting up at 7:30 almost every day and has lots of energy to go and stay busy all day. That is absolutely amazing… my mom has never really been a early morning person. This means she is actually sleeping better and night and resting. She is doing several homeopathic things to help her and its obviously working! I’m so excited for her

Can’t wait to see her either! She is anxious to get here. I know she is bring so much stuff. They are bringing two vehicles, one trailer and the camper and I know she will have it loaded to the gills. She’s so funny about that stuff. I know she loves to be able to help and give things but I wish she would just treat herself.

Tomorrow is a major chore day for me… have to get ready for Dad and crew. All five dogs must have baths, then the bathroom has to be scrubbed top to bottom basically. Two of the pets need to go to the vet, if I can catch Cynie. Cynie needs her nails clipped too. Then I need to go grocery shopping and start preparing some food today to make cooking faster tomorrow. Then a once over cleaning, of the house to make sure nothing was missed. I have more stuff to box up in the guest room to get it out of the way. I need to get outside and make sure the yard is tidy and tend the rose bushes and flowers.
At 10:30pm there is a softball game we want to go to so we can socialize a bit.

Phew… I better get to bed!

Dreams

Though I don’t really blog about them, I do journal about my dreams because I have some unusual dreams. The past few weeks I’ve had the first dreams in a long time so I got my journal out. I looked back to the last dream I recorded. It was in late September. I was at work, it was night and I was with Jeff. A pack of wolves got into the plant and Jeff lifted me up on top of the van to safety. The wolves are a bad omen. So that was a sign of the coming months of chaos at work…involving first Jeff and then everyone else including myself. Was a little strange to go back and read that because I had forgotten about it.

Now this week I had a dream about losing my teeth. All of my top teeth fell out one by one. This means I’m full of anxieties about the future. God is that true! I am still in turmoil over this new schedule and what the future holds.

I watched “First Knight” on TNT this morning. What a lousy actor Richard Gere is! How does this man continue to get roles? He is horrible. Incapable of showing emotion or any depth. He seems to think that scrunching his face up is expressive, hell I can do that! I’ve seen a lot of his movies but this one really was unflattering to him. Especially next to the likes of Sean Connery.

Into the west

This is a summer miniseries on TNT. A Spielberg/Dreamworks production. Since this is one of my favorites times in history I was interested. I watched the first episode tonight and am not particularly impressed. The CGI of the buffalo jump and other scenes is very poorly done, so obviously cgi. The general scenery is unrealistic and bland. St Louis looked like a neat and tidy movie set and not a real bustling river front city. I believe Gary Busey was in the rendevous scene. If it was him, he wasn’t required to much acting to behave like a dirty loon. The story itself is weak so far and the dialogue uninteresting. It fails to draw you in and build emotion or feeling for the characters. For a Spielberg project its not the level of quality and realism I expected. It also seems to steal directly from Dances with Wolves which is my all time favorite movie. Although they give the pronunciation of Tatanka differently, which is annoying. Perhaps I’m spoiled by Deadwood on HBO and its perfect set, dialogue and acting. Maybe producing that level for tv is impossible. :headscratch: I’ll watch again next week to see if it gets any better.

Friday June 10, 2005

Its hot and humid…nothing like last June and nothing like Dave Murray predicted :liar: Our lawn is burnt up from the lack of rain.

Meanwhile the new work schedule sucks. I have so much to do this weekend and only two days to do it. Dad and the gang will be here next Saturday so everything must be done this week. I rearranged the living room furniture and am washing bedding now. I did a little packing also. I still need to wash the dishes. :greenpuke:

Sweitzerfest starts tonight which means there will be a parade blocking our driveway again. We are going to the softball game in Troy though.

My eyes are doing fine, still a bit tender when I rub them but my vision seems to be sharpening. I still wake up with dry, sticky eyes. I’m trying to use my drops but I forget!
